Visit to Florida State University

Last week I had the opportunity to visit Florida State University in Tallahassee.  I went there to teach first at the voice department and to work with the voice students and after tha I was invited by the Center for Music of the Americas, at the Musicology department.

Both experiences; working with singers and musicologist were very reach but also very different.

The first 2 days I had long hours of one to one class with singers...all of them veyr well prepare and eager to learn about the style and interpretation of Spanish Music.....when I say Spanish music Im talking about music from Spain....it could seem like something obvious for some people, but when in my experience, most of the times, when people of the US talks about Spanish Music, they are including music from spain and all the spanish speaking countries, like Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, etc.......

so, going back to FSU, I really enjoyed working with the students and faculty of the voice department.  Of course, I took advantage of the opportunity of being there to "preach my gospel" and give some lectures about Latin AMerican Art Song.

but...I have to talk also about my experience with the Musicologists....it was great! It was intellectually estilulant for me and the exchange of ideas help me to articulate some thoughts and ideas.... I really loved my lunch with the graduate students, my dinner with the faculty and of course my lectures.

I look forward to continue doing things like this and also to be in touch with all the people I met there..

Un abrazo a todos los estudiantes y profesores de FSU, gracias,
